Evaluation and Try Out Information
Fall 2017-Spring 2018
In 2015 US Soccer announced a new Birth Year Mandate that clubs form teams based on the year players are born (January 1 – December 31). This is different than the current method used to create teams which closely follows each player’s grade year in school (August 1 – July 31). The Mandate will cause some players to stay in their current age group, while others may appear to go up one or two age groups. We will comply with the Birth Year Mandate put forth by the USSF; however we will use a flexible model that will give us the ability to consider players from two different age groups. This means that as in the past Henderson County Soccer Association may combine two age groups to build teams but will not allow players to play up two birth years (ie. U13 cannot play on a U15 team). The birth year mandate adds complication to keeping currently teams together in their entirety. For this reason we encourage all players to attend HFC and HCSA tryouts as to not miss out on playing opportunities. To provide the best playing and coaching opportunities for players, HCSA will continue to offer programming in partnership with the Highland Football Club (HFC) for players looking for more development, professional coaching, and competitive matches, with practices held in Henderson County.
